The New NX1P2: Omron’s Compact Yet Powerful Machine Controller

Manufacturers are always on the lookout for new solutions that offer more capabilities while taking up less space. Omron’s new NX1P2 machine controller addresses this need, delivering impressive functionality in a compact package. Here’s what makes the NX1P2 a standout option for modern automation systems.

Small Size, Big Performance

The NX1P2 completes Omron's NX/NJ machine controllers family, offering the same powerful functionality but in a significantly more compact design. With dimensions of just 100 mm × 71 mm × 154 mm, this controller is ideal for applications where space is at a premium. Despite its small footprint, however, the NX1P2 doesn't compromise on performance, featuring:

  • Fast cycle time of just 2 ms.
  • Program capacity up to 1.5 MB.
  • Support for up to 8 axes with 4 synchronized axes.
  • Built-in EtherCAT and EtherNet/IP ports.

Complete System Integration

The NX1P2 provides synchronized control across machine devices through a single integrated development environment, seamlessly managing motion control, I/O operations, safety features and vision systems. It supports up to eight local NX I/O units and can connect to as many as 16 EtherCAT slaves, supporting considerable system expansion.

Flexible Configuration Options

The NX1P2 series comes in various models to suit different application needs:

  • Models with either 40 or 24 built-in I/O points.
  • Up to two option board slots for adding serial communications or analog I/O functionality.
  • Multiple CPU performance variations.

For communications flexibility, optional serial communications boards provide RS-232C or RS-422A/485 connectivity with support for Host link, Modbus-RTU master and no-protocol options.
