New PEWWE Series Motors Offer Reliable Operation in Tough Agricultural Applications

With more industries championing sustainability, many manufacturers are on the lookout for material alternatives to conventional, nonrenewable plastics. To reduce the need for new plastic, WAGO now offers an environmentally friendly version of one of its most popular products, the 221 Series Splicing Connector.

Minimizing the Environmental Impact

The new Green Range 221 Series consists of post-consumer recycled material and bio-based residues. Using an internal recycling process, WAGO uses plastic regranulate to produce new connectors. The housing consists of 77% bio-circular material made from paper and forestry residues, as well as the residues from the production of vegetable oils and reused edible fat. The levers include roughly 27% recycled PBT made from food packaging, plastic bags and PET bottles.Using these various materials saves up to 87% of CO2.

The Green Range 221 Series is packaged in grass paper, which consists of roughly 30% grass fiber and 70% recycled paper. Grass paper production uses approximately 5.6% less CO2 and 11% water than pure recycled paper.

All the Same Features — With Added Sustainability Benefits

Even with the shift to more sustainable materials, the Green Range 221 Series maintains the same high-quality standards as the original 221 Series Splicing Connectors. Its features include:

  • Connector options: 2, 3 and 5 wires.
  • Easy termination of conductors from 0.14 to 4 mm².
  • Ability to connect solid, stranded and fine-stranded conductors.
  • Time savings for installers and device manufacturers.
  • Quick installation of devices with a higher power consumption.
  • Ease of use: simply pull the lever up, insert a conductor and push the lever down.
  • Ability to safely install long cable runs with larger conductor cross sections.
  • Custom carrier options.

The Green Range 221 Series is suitable for residential and industrial applications, including in distribution cabinets, where they can be mounted vertically or horizontally using mounting carriers. Units are also compatible with a variety of accessories, such as gelboxes, which provides reliable moisture protection.
